Espionage picture updated Mercedes S-class 2010 modelling years!

Updated sedan Mercedes of a S-class will be officially presented in 2010, but already now, looking at espionage picture, it is possible to tell – external changes will appear are minimum. It is necessary to notice also that on creation of a new bumper and light-emitting diode indexes of turn, and also design of a forward part as a whole, developers has inspired memorable concept Ocean Drive. Though, according to Germans, the scale of engines remains former, except for the promised hybrid power-plant, internal changes can be much more, rather than external. The information on it is poor enough, but by experience of last years it is possible to tell that the flagman S-class is the original stand for new technologies Mercedes. We will hope Therefore that the updated sedan, having appeared in the market, us will surprise with something especial. Once again we will remind that modernised Mercedes a S-class 2010 modelling years will appear in showrooms worldwide just in a year when well-founded citizens will start to prepare gifts for the relatives

Mercedes-Benz to offer SPLITVIEW technology

S-Klasse (S350) W221. Fadi Al-Odeh, Nordhorn, ...

Future Mercedes-Benz luxury class models will offer a new SPLITVIEW technology that will benefit both drivers and front seat passengers.
The technology will first be introduced in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class which is scheduled to hit the market in the summer of next year.

It works by allowing two different images to be shown simultaneously alongside each other, meaning that a driver can view their satellite navigation system, while the front seat passenger is relaxed watching a film on the eight inch screen.

There is no concern that the two images will merge together as a filter masks the display, meaning that images can only be viewed through sitting in a set position and the pixels allow only one image to be witnessed by each car user.

The driver can select their desired image through the dashboard, while the passenger will need a remote control to switch between DVDs, television channels or music.
Passengers have the added benefit of enjoying their selection through the use of headphones if they wish.
Buyers of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class could also benefit from the ultimate comfort, with seats that offer a high level of opulence.

Hamilton: Standard engines not the way to cut costs

Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes Benz headquarters i...

Lewis Hamilton doesn't believe that standardised engines will be introduced into formula one as a way of cutting costs in the sport.
Formula one's governing body the FIA has come up with a plan that will reduce the costs that teams, including Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, will have to shell out over the next two seasons.
However, although Hamilton agrees that introducing measures to reduce costs will be of the sport's benefit during the current economic conditions, he doesn't believe that standard engines will be the answer.

He told BBC Sport: "I don't think that (a standard engine) is ever going to happen. I can't see that happening simply because the manufacturers play such a huge role in the sport.
"The world is struggling but they (the FIA) are always taking the right actions to make the sport cheaper. But every time they introduce something new, it costs more money so it's about having a balance."
The Brit has currently missed out on the team's testing sessions in Jerez, which have been completed by team-mate Heikki Kovalainen and test driver Pedro De La Rosa.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class high on safety

Motorists looking for a vehicle that has achieved high safety ratings may wish to consider the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the US has named the C-Class as one of its top safety picks for 2009 after it achieved high safety ratings in the all criteria in which it was judged.

In the latest assessments, the IIHS tested the Mercedes-Benz C-Class in front and side on crashes, while safety specialists ran out tests on neck injuries in rear impacts.
Top marks were awarded for the vehicle in all three categories, which has proved as conformation for the research the firm did in analysing real life accidents.
To help boost the safety of the vehicle, it is fitted with seven airbags, belt tensioners and crash-responsive head restraints, which are all fitted as standard.

Also, around 70 per cent of all of the body shell panels are made from steel alloys, which help to minimise weight and maximise safety.
A number of different engine sizes are also available for the Mercedes-Benz C-Class saloon including a C 230 V6 and C 180 KOMPRESSOR BlueEFFICIENCY four-cylinder.

Spy Shot: Mercedes-Benz S-Class Mule Spotted!

Our spy shooters have just reported in with a few images depicting the newly updated Mercedes-Benz S-Class, showing the lightly disguised car in trims ranging from the storming AMG-tuned sedan to the all-new S400 Hybrid. The facelifted cars feature new headlight treatments with LED daytime running lights, revised front and rear bumpers, and a gently updated look for the car's grille.

Have a closer look at the upcoming range-topping Mercedes in our gallery above, or read on below for the spy shooter's own words.

Here are some fresh photos of the Mercedes S-Class facelift, while the drivers took some lunch. Optical changes are rather small, with a new graphic on the front lights and integrated LED-daydriving lights. Rear lights will also get LEDs.
Bumpers in both front and rear will get a new shape, with new foglights in the front bumper as well. We also notice a new grille.  Interior will also be slightly different, because these prototypes where covered inside.
Engines will be more fuel efficient, and there also will be a S400 Blue hybrid in the program.
As you can see, the AMG version also gets a facelift.

StudioTorino Coupetorino: Mercedes SL coupe

Yes this is breathtakingly beautiful. No, it won't go into production (but that we'll get to that in a second). The Coupetorino was created by Alfredo Stola a designer at StudioTorino and Piotr Degler Jablonski a student at IAAD art institute. It was entered into the event "Turin World Design Capital 2008" as part of the "Bespoke Coachwork" category. The idea was to take a Mercedes SL and give it Italian flair. The result was pure sex. Now comes the unfortunate part... Mercedes will (...)

Mercedes to go electric in Detroit with three new BlueZero concepts

Here is your first look at the next-generation B-Class (in concept form of course) from Mercedes-Benz that will make its way to the U.S. in 2011. Next month at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz will reveal three new concepts under a new badge called 'BlueZero'.

The first, known as the BlueZero E-Cell, will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack that will allow for a maximum range of 124 miles on battery power alone. The BlueZero F-Cell will be the second concept featured in Detroit and will be powered by a tank full of hydrogen that allows it to go for a total of 400 miles with power coming from the car's 120-hp electric-motor.

The third concept, and probably the one that will most likely see production, will be the BlueZero E-Cell Plus. Like the 2011 Chevrolet Volt, the BlueZero E-Cell Plus is an E-REV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle). It is powered by a 67-hp 3-cylinder turbo engine from the Smart ForTwo that will charge an onboard lithium-ion battery pack allowing for a total of 373 miles. It is capable of traveling 62 miles on battery power alone.

Mercedes-Benz says that all three concepts will go from 0 to 62 mph in less than 11 seconds with a top speed electronically limited to 93 mph.

Spy shots: First prototypes for next-gen Mercedes Benz CLS

The Mercedes Benz CLS ignited the four-door coupe market when it was introduced back in 2004, and since then we've seen several other luxury rivals attempt to emulate the design with cars like the Porsche Panamera, Audi A7 and Aston Martin Rapide all under development. Now the first prototype for Mercedes' next-generation CLS has been spotted, revealing a few subtle clues about the new model (previously we saw a test-mule disguised under the sheet metal of the current model). The new car is expected to be launched in late 2010 as a 2011 model, and positioned more upmarket to bring it in line with some of its more premium rivals.

StudioTorino converts Mercedes SL into Coupetorino concept

What do you get when you combine German engineering with Italian design? One example is the stunning Coupetorino, a re-design project by Alfredo Stola of StudioTorino. Based around the Mercedes SL, the Coupetorino takes a solid platform and turns it into a work of art. Submitted as a proposal to the 2008 Turin World Design Capital competition, the Coupetorino is, as yet, only a computer rendering and a 1/4 scale model. Converting a native-born convertible into a true coupe is no small task, but the StudioTorino team has full confidence in the computer design of the project coming to life.

Park Assist technology defies logic

Mercedes-Benz car of type W169 (

It is well worth spending an extra £550 for an additional feature that will make parking a Mercedes-Benz easier, a reviewer has stated in the East Kilbride News.
Mike Torpey recently spent some time in the Mercedes-Benz A180 CDI Avantgarde SE, and discovered the full benefits of the Active Park Assist technology.
Mr Torpey states that the car includes ultrasonic sensors and when the sensors find a parking slot big enough, all the driver has to do is accept the spot using the steering wheel.

He stated that he was surprised by the space suggested by the sensors, as the gap appeared to "defy logic".
However, within three moves, he stated the Mercedes-Benz A-Class was parked up and all he had to do was operate the accelerator and brakes.
Other aspects of the vehicle Mr Torpey noted included the 16-inch alloy wheels, the comfort of the seats and an "enhanced light and sight package".
In terms of performance, the vehicle could hit 62mph from standstill in 11.1 seconds and has a maximum speed of 112mph, while being positioned in insurance group 8.

Mercedes-Benz Gullwing Mule Caught In The Cold Spy Shots

It looks like the Mercedes-Benz engineers are still moving forward with the SLC Gullwing project, as our spy shooters recently caught the car testing in some bone-chilling weather. (-15 degrees Fahrenheit! Brr!)

According to the folks at CarPix, we can expect a twin-turbocharged V-8 under the hood producing roughly 600 horsepower. This engine will be mated to a seven-speed transmission and the car's body will be made of carbon fiber and aluminum to reduce overall weight. Look for a more production-ready version of this car to hit around 2010.

Scroll through the gallery of images above, or click through the post to read our spy shooter's own thoughts about the SLC Gullwing.

There is something about winter testing, it's almost always dark, snowing or foggy. In this case dark and foggy, but we still want to show you these new photos of the Mercedes Gullwing while driving in the snow, at -26 degrees Celsius.
It's not clear yet if it will wear the Mercedes symbol, the AMG badge or both but we can agree that it will have a tuff market when it's time for presentation. Hopefully the financial crisis has calmed down until 2010 when the Gullwing will be official.
Expect a twin-turbo V8 with roughly 600 horsepower to find its place in the aluminum spaceframe, connected to a 7-speed gearbox. Body will be made of carbon fiber and aluminium to keep weight down.

Spy shots: Mercedes Benz S-Class facelift with LED headlights

The current generation Mercedes Benz S Class has been on the market since 2005 and is due to receive a minor update next year to keep it fresh for its rivalry with the all-new BMW 7-series on sale at the end of the year and next-generation Audi A8 arriving in 2010. Recent prototypes seen testing in Germany and the United States reveal that the only major exterior updates for the car are a set of new bumpers and a revised combination projector/LED design for the headlights, which were previously obscured by camouflage. Mercedes plans to launch an array of new technologies in both the facelifted S-Class and the next-generation E-Class range.

Mercedes Benz Will Have “Splitview” Screen Technology In New S-Class

Mercedes Benz said it will offer a new Splitview display technology in it's new upcoming S-Class that allows the driver and passenger to view to separate programs/images at the same time. This means your passenger may be able to view a DVD movie while you are trying to navigate to the nearest strip club. Okay, only kidding about the strip club. But can you only imaging, using the same display device to view different images. We already know the S-Class has a self-drive option (accelerate and brake in traffic on its own) but this one seems like a lot of commotion and a potential distraction if you ask me.

Have you ever seen those traffic lights with the blinds on it or the ones angles in a way that you can only see it from a certain angle? What about old LCD screens that the viewing angle was so narrow that you really could not read the screen if you were looking at it from an side angle? Well, this new technology kind of revisits that same concept only it actually works for the purpose of displaying two separate images viewed at certain angles only. Some may refer to this new Splitview screen as "DualView" which was actually previews in February by Bosch and Blaupunkt who happen to be the new systems developers.

The new system will be a touchscreen but only for the driver. The passenger will get a separate remote control device that may be used to control the passenger section of the screen more for watching movies in your new Benz.

We are not sure of the price on this new option but we are certain Benz will be offering it first in their newest S-Class as early as 2009.

Mercedes bringing trio of BlueZero concepts to 2009 NAIAS

Though most of the world associates green with environmentally-friendly technologies, Mercedes and a few others use the color blue to denote their ecologically advanced vehicles and drivetrains. The latest development in the blue-themed line of Mercedes offerings will come at the 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, where a trio of BlueZero electric vehicle concepts will be shown. The three cars, dubbed E-Cell, F-Cell and E-Plus, all of which offer slightly different takes on the electric vehicle concept.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class includes V8 engine

Despite a range of power improvements on previous models, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class E63 AMG is "nothing to lairy externally", a review believes.
Writing for Top Gear, Tom Ford states that the vehicle has undergone a major shift in power, thanks mainly to the inclusion of a new engine.
A 6.3-litre V8 has given the Mercedes-Benz E-Class a facelift, states Mr Ford, with it allowing the vehicle to hit the dizzy heights of 62mph from standstill in a quick 4.5 seconds.

The vehicle is also capable of reaching an electronically-limited 155mph.
Further changes have occurred including a lip spoiler, 18-inch wheels, quad exhausts and big composite brakes, while a general improvement is noted in a "smoothing out of the style".
A new headlight shape is present, alongside extra technology including adaptive braking, which helps to give the vehicle a "refreshing" feel.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is categorised as a mid-size luxury car or executive car.

Hamilton to stay at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes for life

Lewis Hamilton has reiterated his passion for the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team by stating that he wants to stay with them for the rest of his career.

The Brit has been part of the team since 1998, when Vodafone McLaren Mercedes chairman Ron Dennis signed him onto the company's development programme.

And after being with the team for ten years, progressing through the motor racing structure into formula one, Hamilton insists he is very happy with is current team and has no desire to ever move.

He told the Italian daily newspaper Corriere dalla Sera: "I was born and grew up at McLaren. It is my home. Yes, I confirm I will never change team. I have handled all problems with the team: I have won, we have won, and that means that we have been the best.

"I have a lot of respect for Ron and what he has done for me."

Hamilton is currently in the running to be crowned Sports Personality of the Year for 2008, following becoming formula one world champion for the first time this season.

Di Resta has sound technology understanding

SLR McLaren no crop

Mercedes-Benz DTM driver Paul Di Resta has a sound understanding when it comes to the technology of vehicles and knows what is required to improve a car's performance, it has been stated.
Manuel Reuter, who commentated on the DTM season alongside Philipp Sohmer for German TV station ARD, believes the Scot outclassed his established teammates and was unlucky not to become DTM champion.

He said: "He experienced a fantastic year - and did so in his first year at the wheel of a latest-spec car. He drove great races, even in the closing stages of the season when he had to cope with a lot of pressure. He delivered in great style at Le Mans and in the season finale at Hockenheim, he also drove a flawless race.

"He is very good when it comes to the technology and knows how to enhance a car."

Reuter added that he is unsure if Di Resta will remain in DTM next season, as he may make the jump to the GP2 series in preparation for a crack at formula one.
Earlier this year, Di Resta completed extensive testing for the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes formula one team.

Hamilton could be the best ever

Lewis Hamilton driving for McLaren at the 2007...

Lewis Hamilton is well on the road to becoming the greatest formula driver of all time according to former two time world champion Mika Hakkinen.
Hakkinen believes that the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver can build upon winning the drivers' championship in only his second season in the sport and push on to further greatness.
The Finn told the Times newspaper: "I just do not see why he cannot become the best there is. He is only in his second year in formula one and that is a very high-pressure environment. But he deals with it. He has youth and talent on his side. He can be the greatest."
Hakkinen added that Hamilton will always make a few mistakes because of the speed at which he drives, but he has a lot going for him to cut these to a minimum.
"He is a young guy, he is with a great team and he has shown great commitment to the team for a long period. He has a fantastic fitness programme so that he will have the energy to drive for years to maximise his performance for a long time to come," the former Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver concluded.
Hakkinen won back-to-back world championships in 1998 and 1999.

Positive sales at Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz W204

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class and smart vehicles continue to lead the way in positive sales, according to latest figures.
As Mercedes-Benz Cars has sold over one million vehicles so far this year, it is the smart vehicles that continue to excel the greatest over sales figures from last year.
During November, 10,100 smart branded vehicles were delivered, similar to the 10,300 units sold during the same month last year.
However, a 37 per cent rise has been noted on total sales for 2008 compared with last year, with 123,500 smart vehicles sold this year, a growth on the 90,500 in 2007.
Over the year the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has witnessed a sales boost, with a 16 per cent worldwide sales rise.
Some 408,100 vehicles have been sold this year compared to 350,800 between January and November last year.
Another vehicle to show an improvement in sales is the Mercedes-Benz CLC sports coupe, with the number of units sold almost doubling.
Last November 1,200 units were sold, but in the same month this year, this figure has increases to 2,100.

2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class and M-Class - IIHS 2009 Top Safety Pick

2009 Mercedes C-Class IIHS Top Safety Pick

The 2008-2009 C-Class has been awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety 2009 Top Safety Pick for Midsized Cars. You can view the IIHS Report Here.

The 2006-2009 M-Class has also been chosen as a Top Safety Pick for the third year in a row. You can view it's IIHS Report Here.

Mercedes-Benz is always working to build the safest cars on the planet. People forget that in addition to inventing the automobile, Mercedes was the first to offer seatbelts, airbags, and ABS brakes. Now, all of these items are standard on almost every car, and Mercedes is working hard to develop the safety technologies of the future.

Mercedes-Benz sales top a million for year

Maybach-Manufaktur

Over one million Mercedes-Benz Cars have been sold around the world since the start of this year, despite challenging market conditions, it has been revealed.
Some 1,158,200 passenger vehicles have been sold between January and November this year, only a one per cent fall on sales over the same period in 2007.
This is a strong effort throughout Western Europe, the US and Japan as the financial climate in these countries is causing many potential customers to think twice about purchasing a new vehicle.
Also, customers bought 1,034,700 of these vehicles sold, with 84,500 of the Mercedes-Benz, smart, AMG and Maybach fleet being delivered to budding buyers during November.
In terms of the number of vehicles sold in Western Europe, sales for the year look solid at 683,400, with 50,500 of these occurring during November.
One vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz fleet which has achieved impressive sales figures is the Mercedes-Benz C-Class from the 2004 series.
It was recently stated that the model has surpassed the half a million sales mark worldwide, despite only hitting the market in March 2007.

Mercedes-Benz CLC. The admission in Gran Tourismo

The 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLC has a bit more premium spin than the former C-Class Sport Coupe, so it slots into the present C-Class lineup just beneath the CLK. As you'd expect, the CLC adopts the aggressive front end of the new-generation C-Class with its dual trapezoidal headlights and does away with the classic, round quad headlights. The CLC also features a prominent twin-slat grille, a look that gives it a clear family resemblance to the upmarket SLK roadster. At the same time, the tuning of the four-link independent front suspension and the multilink independent rear suspension has been thoroughly revised with stiffer spring rates and firmer dampers across the lineup. The Stuttgart engineers privately tell us that it all adds up to "sharper and more direct" responses. If this is not enough, you'll also be able to specify the CLC with an optional sport package that lowers the ride height fractionally, and no doubt there will be an AMG model of the CLC on the way. No information has been released as yet about pricing, but it appears that the 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLC is going to get serious about the market for premium-class small cars.

Mercedes-Benz 2010 E-Class Coupe (Formerly the CLK)

2010 E-Class Coupe

Mercedes-Benz is making things simpler by renaming the CLK coupe and cabriolet into the E-Class coupe and cabriolet. The Coupe will arrive in the US as a 2010 model in mid 2009. The Cabriolet will follow in about a year. Until the cabriolet is released the current CLK cabriolet will continue to be built. I look forward to having an E-Class sedan, coupe and cabriolet in our line-up! I think it will help to stabilize residual values for the coupe and cabriolet and will ensure that they have the same technology upgrades that the E-Class sedan gets regularly. In the past, the CLK has been a little neglected in the technology department.

These spy pictures of the coupe look fantastic. The hood and front headlights really look like the CL and the side view of our coupes is always stunning!
